It has been with hard work and endurance that ‘Zebyah’, have become one of the most respected four/ five piece bands on the Mid North Coast. (we are four piece on stage but are five piece with female lead and male lead vocalists – two vocalists, guitarist, bass player, drummer and merchandiser).
The band was formed in 1993 by twins Todd and Benn Saunders who were at the tender age of eleven.
Zebyah have entertained audiences of 8,000 people and participated in numerous community functions with booking sometimes up to 3 years in advance.
Allan Saunders (Dad), ’The Voice’ as he is known, took on the vocals in a big way. With his combination of great warmth and diversity his polished vocal abilities are described as breathtaking and dynamically versatile from a gut wrenching ballad to explosive pumping rock that is demonstrated by our diverse repertoire. Allan sing songs from Roy Orbisons Pretty Woman through to Eskimo Joe... Old Favorites to Top 40 hits of today....
Todd Saunders (Lead Guitarist/backing Vocals) and Benn Saunders (Bass Guitarist) are an inseparable team, being twins. They have dominated many competitions such as ‘The Hasting Battle of the Bands‘, SCU band comps and Best Instrumentalist Awards. They have also played support for ‘Super Heist‘, ‘Picco’ , headlined Rip Curl Session Search, JJJ’s ‘Sick Puppies‘
Zebyah have been on the same bill as acts such as Troy Cassar-Daley, Shakaya, Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter as well as having had lead singers/friends to jam with such as Aussie Idol's Dan England and Jolene Anderson from All Saints on channel 7 /It Takes Two 2007 winner. Due to their advanced skills upon their instruments Todd and Benn aged 25, have completed and graduated in bachelors of Contemporary Music and Secondary Education at Southern Cross University Lismore (Graduating 21April 2006). Deborah Saunders (mum) who is the lead female vocalist and was also the drummer for Zebyah for nearly ten years, belts out absolute power vocally with hits from Melissa Etheridge, Pink, Baby Animals, Pat Benitar , Joan Jet and more… leaving audiences captivated with her dynamic articulation and energy whilst performing. Deborah’s ability does not end here, with her versatility to play a vast array of contrasting styles, she can leave almost anyone in ore with just one beat. when drumming - The tone Deborah produces from her drum kit is described as being far more musical then anyone could estimate, This is a characteristic of her unique technical ability.
Zebyah are proud to have the our very close friend and colleague Lewis Alessandro playing on drums with us .. Lou's talent on the drums started at the tender age of 4years - as time went by it was then when Lou's early career started which was mainly localised in the regions of Sydney with Lou then moving to the Mid North Coast at the age of 16 to play with the well known band 'New Values'.
New Values toured from as far as Canberra in the south to Townsville in the north for quite a number of years. Lou and New Values had accomplished gigs such as supporting many well known Aussie bands such as; Midnight Oil, Mondo Rock, Sharon O’Neill & Aussie Crawl just to name a few of which all had a huge followings.
Lou has also been in the band 'One Intention' with Jolene Anderson from the TV drama 'All Saints' and winner of 'It Takes Two' on channel 9, with Zebyah guitarist Todd Saunders' and Zebyah Bass Player 'Benn Saunders' - back in the years 2000 to 2001.
Lou has returned back to The Mid North Coast to play with many local bands & pursue his artistic career path in sculpture, using spoons & forks and where music took a back seat for awhile while Lou took time to developed his own business which is known as 'Cutlery Creations' and can be seen in many galleries and jewelry stores around Australia and even overseas. Lou is excited to be drumming again & is pleased to have recently joined Deb, Al, Todd & Ben in Zebyah and 'Zebyah' is ecstatic to have Lou back " in the hot seat" where he was meant to be ... playing those awesome heavy beats that Lou' Alessandro's name is synonymous with and 'that has to be seen to be believed'.
We are looking forward to expanding our fan base and are prepared, equipped and enthusiastic.
Our life is Music, Music, Music! We eat sleep and breathe music. Bookings are up to12 months in advance with New Years Eve sometimes booked up to 3 years in advance.
We are ‘The Family That Rocks’! A quality rock cover band that are willing to captivate and Hope to stretch our wings to further our fan base.
